A BRIEF REPORT ON THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE & IPCA EXPO 2001 ON EMERGINGTRENDS IN ELECTRONIC DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY HELD IN THE PREMISES OF CEDTI, MOHALI, CHANDIGARH ON OCT. 12-13, 2001 during the formation of EDCI

Our national conference-cum-exhibition on Emerging Trends in Electronics Design and Technology concluded on 13.10.2001as programmed and set a milestone in the development of the electronics industry for electrical interconnection with the establishment of the Electronic Designers Council of India, the first of its kind in the country, in affiliation with IPC Designers Council, USA

Now, the Indian Printed Circuit Association (IPCA) has provided a platform to the electronic community in the country to discuss current technological trends in electronics design and technology.

Some highlights about the Conference and IPCA Expo:

>> Approximately 350 guests and delegates took part during the inauguration session, done by his Excellency Lt. Gen.(Retd.) J.F.R. Jacob, Governor of Punjab.

>> Renowned speakers from India and 7 speakers from abroad delivered their presentations

>> More than 300 students from various engineering colleges visited the exhibition, among them 65 foreign students from 28 countries

>> 25 reports within 09 to 14 October 2001 have been edited and published by the PRESS so far.

>>The first time in India, ELECTRONIC DESIGNERS COUNCIL OF INDIA has been established in order to coordinate and promote design concepts related to international design rules and international standards through education, communication, seminars and workshops

>> 47 designers from all over the country have enrolled themselves as members for the Electronic Designers Council.

>> The Draft Constitution of the Electronics Designers Council of India (EDCI) presented before its members has been adopted after a detailed discussion in the first General body of the Council held in the same premises on the 13th of October 2001. The General body of the Council after adopting the proposed Constitution, had elected for the first time, Office bearers and the members for the Working Committee of the Council on that momentous day.
